Time to make (eat) the Donuts!

Yeast_raised_donuts_february_26th_2009_1
Tomorrow is the Tour de Donut in Staunton, IL.  Last year I crashed and broke my wrist (and still finished).  This year I plan to not crash, eat some donuts and have a great time.  I have a donut eating strategy but I'm not sure if I am going to eat as many as I can or just a few.

  2. I'm thinking zero doughnuts for me. If you are eating donuts, here are some tips that my friend Anne posted as a comment on my blog. She had the overall best women's time last year so I think she is an authority on this.

    From Anne:

Tips for anyone doing the Tour De Donut this weekend --- eat most of your donuts at the first stop. By the time you reach the second stop, the donuts have been sitting out in the heat for a bit and don't go down as well. Don't drink a lot of water even though it will be hot, this will make the donuts swell in your stomach, possibly causing a "reversal". Just take tiny sips of water at regular intervals. Eat something kind of greasy for breakfast -- McDonalds hash browns are the best pre-donut-race food. The grease seems to counter-act the sugary donuts.
