"For an occurrence to become an adventure, it is necessary and sufficient for one to recount it." ~ Jean-Paul Sartre

100+ Project

The 100+ Project is something I came up with after spending a day paddling the Mississippi river with Dave Cornthwaite. You see Dave started Expedition 1000 where he will undertake 25 separate journeys of 1000miles or more each time using a different form of non-motorized transport. Basically I have stolen his idea and changed it to suit my life. During the project I plan to use different forms of non-motorized transport to travel 100 miles or more. 100+, get it?

The Project will benefit the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America St Louis chapter. I developed an allergy to cats late in my 20's that started with small nuisance symptoms, runny nose, dry eyes, etc. and evolved into asthma. Luckily for me I can stay away from cats and be symptom free. There was a time however when my living situation forced me to live in a house that had a cat so I know what having frequent and ongoing asthma attacks is like. It seems like a no brainer to try and help others that are going through what I went through, but aren't lucky enough to remove the cause of their symptoms.

To donate to this cause please visit my fundraising page on Crowdrise.com.  I hope that through the course of the project I will be able to raise $100,000 or more.  I have a few ideas already for some journeys that will be pretty interesting to say the least.  Since I am not travelling as far as Dave I have more of a selection of vehicles to choose from.  Expedition 1000 may never involve a pogo stick, but the 100+project could incorporate one someday!

Stay informed on everything I am planning by following this blog.  You could also follow me on twitter  @Trail_and_Error for Live tweets from the road, trail, water or where ever these journeys take me!
